Creating New Custom Pages, Linking Your Pages, Adding Menu Links

You can create an unlimited number of new pages on your website using the built-in Page Editor. You can use the Content Wizard to create pages already complete with content that you can edit and save for use on your website. Before beginning the tutorial session, please be sure that you have already logged into your website intranet.

Creating a New Page using the Content Wizard
You've already learned how to edit your existing website pages in Tutorial Day 2. Now let's create some new pages! You can use the Content Wizard to quickly create pages complete with content. All you have to do is edit the content to your liking and save the page!
  1. Click on "My Website Pages" on the Content menu to display the Coaching page
  2. Click on "Create a New Page with the Content Wizard" from the Coaching page
  3. View the Content Wizard examples by clicking the preview icon
  4. Select a content wizard template by clicking the Template Name
  5. The content wizard page template will be loaded into the Page Editor for changes
  6. Make any changes you wish to the page
  7. Save your changes

Creating a New Blank Page
You can start with a blank page to add your own content to your website without using the Content Wizard.
  1. Click on "My Website Pages" on the Content & Design menu to display the Coaching page
  2. Click on "Create New Website Page (Blank Page)" for editing options
  3. Click on "Create Your Website Page with the Page Editor" to open the page editor.
  4. Type and format the content using the editor tools for your new page
  5. Save your Changes

Editing your Website Pages (review from Day 2)
Making changes to your home page and other website pages is simple using our built-in online WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) page editor. Lets get started by making a change to your website homepage by following the step-by-step instructions below. You can use these steps to make changes to any of your website pages at any time.

  1. Select "My Website Pages" from the Content & Design Menu to display the Coaching page.
  2. Select "View/Change Website Pages" on the Coaching page to display your list of pages.
  3. Click on the page named "My Home Page" for editing options. This screen presents all of the options available for editing and setting options for your website pages. We will start with the basics: Using the page editor.
  4. Select the option to "Edit Your Page with the Page Editor"
  5. Your page will be displayed in the page editor allowing you to make changes simply by typing and formatting your text just as you would create a document in any word processing program. Feel free to explore the formatting options on the editor toolbar at your leisure - note that we will be discussing the links tool and image tool in further detail in the next two sessions.
  6. Click the Save button on the editor toolbar after making your changes.
  7. After saving your website page, you can click "Preview Website Page" to view the page on your website, or "Return to Editing" if you'd like to continue making changes to your website page.


Creating Links
You can link your website pages to each other, creating a link on one page to another page or many pages. Using this method you can create an index of your pages OR you can create a step-by-step guide for your website visitors. You can also add new links to your website navigation menu to display your custom pages. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to create each type of page link.

Linking Website Pages
  1. Select "My Website Pages" from the Content & Design Menu to display the Coaching page.
  2. Select "View/Change Website Pages" on the Coaching page to display your list of pages.
  3. Click on the page named "My Home Page" for editing options. This screen presents all of the options available for editing and setting options for your website pages. We will start with the basics: Using the page editor.
  4. Select the option to "Edit Your Page with the Page Editor"
  5. Type your link text in the page content (this is the text that your website visitor will click on - for example: "Click Here")

  6. Highlight the link text by dragging your mouse over the text
  7. Click on the Link Tool on the Editor Toolbar
  8. Select the Website Page (or other page) you wish to create a link to from the drop down menu of custom pages.
  9. You will see the page URL automatically fill in the URL field (note: you can also type directly in the URL link field to create links to external websites)
  10. Link Options: Check the "Open link in a New Browser Window" option only if you want this link to create a popup window over your website.
  11. Click OK to Create the Link
  12. Save your Website Page

Adding Menu Links

  1. Click on "Website Designs and Links" on the Content & Design menu to display the Coaching page
  2. Click on "Edit My Website Design and Menu Links" to display the available editing options (if you have enhanced domain pointers, you will have a list of your domain names to choose from on this screen).
  3. Click on "Menu Links" to display the Menu Links page.
  4. Click "Add New Menu Link" to display the Add Menu Link page
  5. Type your Link Text in the Link Text field (this is the link your website visitor will see)
  6. Select your Link Page from the "Select Custom Page" drop down menu (under General Link Settings)
  7. Feel free to experiment with the other link options (for example font color and size) at your leisure
  8. Click the "Add Menu Item" button to create your new menu link
  9. Click the Up/Down arrows on the Menu Links page to move the new menu link to your desired location
  10. Click "Close Window" on the Menu Links Page
  11. Click "Close Window" on the Customize Template Page
  12. Click "View My Website" from your intranet menu to view your new website navigation
